Hotel Tricks
The best tip for this resort is to try and upgrade to the “Excellence Club.” Yes, it costs extra, but this is what really makes that luxury experience. There is a private classy lounge with top-shelf premium brands just for club guests-appetizers too-a sectioned-off beach area with a private bar and, most importantly, two private Excellence Club pools! This add-on brings that one notch higher exclusivity, privacy, personalized service-ideal if on honeymoon or celebrating something special.
Another of the best perks at this resort is top-shelf, Ă la carte dining with no reservations required. Still, a waitlist does organically develop for the most popular restaurants during peak dinner hour--romantic French eatery "Chez Isabelle" or at the teppanyaki tables in "Spice". A smart hack is simply to go early-around 6:30 PM-or enjoy a later, more European-style dinner after 8:45 PM to be seated immediately. For a truly memorable breakfast, skip the (excellent) buffet one morning and have a relaxed, Ă la carte breakfast at "The Lobster House," which overlooks the main pool.
Be aware of the beach conditions for swimming. The beach at Uvero Alto is stunningly beautiful for walking and photos, but it faces the open Atlantic and often has strong waves and an undertow, resulting in a red or yellow flag. If you are a casual swimmer or prefer a perfectly calm, crystal-clear ocean, you may be disappointed. The hack is to embrace the hotel's magnificent swimming pool. It's one of the largest in the Caribbean, and it winds through the whole property, so you can always find your own quiet, private section to float and relax in the sun.
Do not miss the Miilé Spa. Pro tip: Book a “Ritual.” That automatically gets you in on the breathtaking hydrotherapy circuit before arriving at your actual treatment appointment. This is a guided water journey of different pools, temperatures, and pressures. It’s amazingly relaxing and invigorating at the same time. Also, remember to pack for the evening. The resort has a "casual elegance" dress code for dinner; for men, this means long trousers (slacks or nice jeans) and collared shirts (no t-shirts or shorts) are required in most of the à la carte restaurants. It enhances the sophisticated, adult atmosphere of the resort.
